Oklahoma Sooners Football: Mark Andrews wins John Mackey Award

The Oklahoma tight end led the Sooners with 58 receptions in 2017.

Oklahoma Sooners tight end Mark Andrews has won the John Mackey Award, which is given annually to the top tight end in college football.

Andrews leads the Sooners in receptions (58) and receiving touchdowns (8) while also totaling 906 receiving yards, which is currently second on the team behind Marquise Brown’s 981. In his career, the redshirt junior has totaled 108 receptions for 1,713 yards and 22 touchdowns. Andrews has also had plenty of big moments in big games on Oklahoma’s road to the College Football Playoff, perhaps none bigger than his go-ahead TD against Texas on Oct. 14.
