NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said after Monday’s practice that redshirt freshman Rhett Bomar will start at quarterback for the Sooners this Saturday against Tulsa. Bomar gets the nod over junior Paul Thompson who started the season opener against TCU.

Sooner fans need not completely write off the 2005 season. Yes, as most of us thought, a National Championship is not anywhere in the cards. However, Big 12 Championship goals are still in front of Oklahoma if they can give the quarterbacks an offensive game plan that suits their skills. Gone is Jason White and his O-Line that pushed everyone around en route to the Championship, these guys need to be mobile and need to be given the opportunity to make plays in that capacity.

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma begins its 111th season of intercollegiate football competition Saturday when it hosts Texas Christian University. The Sooners are opening at home for the third consecutive season and for the sixth time in Bob Stoops’ seven seasons.

NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma football team concluded Friday afternoon practice with a half hour of drills inside the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The drills capped a practice of over two hours that was open to the public and led up to the start of the annual Big Red Rally.

NORMAN, Okla. — The Big Red Rally, the annual kickoff event for University of Oklahoma students, is set for Friday, Aug. 26.
The gates to Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium open at 3:45 p.m. Practice that day, which is open to the public, begins at that same time on fields near the south grandstand. The practice concludes at 6:15 p.m., when the Big Red Rally begins in the stadium.

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma completed a 50-play scrimmage Wednesday afternoon in Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. It was the final preseason scrimmage for the Sooners prior to their Sept. 3 season opener against TCU.
