Gundy Chooses Woods as Starter

Oklahoma State Cowboys Head Coach Mike Gundy chose experience over potential Monday when he reveiled in a depth chart that Sophomore Donovan Woods would get the start in Saturday’s game against Montana State. Gundy chose Woods over Redshirt Freshman Bobby Reid.

Stoops Announces 2005 Team Captains

NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma football team concluded Friday afternoon practice with a half hour of drills inside the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The drills capped a practice of over two hours that was open to the public and led up to the start of the annual Big Red Rally.

Nate Hybl Released from Jacksonville Camp

Former Oklahoma Sooners Quarterback and Rose Bowl MVP Nate Hybl was released today by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hybl was among eight players waived today by the Jaguars.

Thompson To Start, Bomar To Play

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops closed the preseason portion of football practice on Thursday evening with the highly anticipated announcement of a starting quarterback.

Junior Paul Thompson was given the starting nod, although Stoops emphasized that redshirt-freshman Rhett Bomar will play early and often.

Sooners & Cowboys both Nearing QB Decisions

The discussion started immediately after last football season in both Stillwater and Norman. Sooner fans and Cowboy fans alike have debated over the past seven or eight months about who would quarterback their respected clubs when the 2005 seasons kickoff in September.

Cowboys scrimmage at home

The Oklahoma State Cowboys resumed practice at home Wednesday, with a scrimmage that lasted just under two hours.
One day after practicing in Ponca City due to wet conditions on the practice field, coach Mike Gundy said he was pleased with what he saw.

“It went well,” Gundy said. “It was very productive for the offense. There were some things that we did that were different with personnel and schemes.

Big Red Rally Set for Friday at Stadium

NORMAN, Okla. — The Big Red Rally, the annual kickoff event for University of Oklahoma students, is set for Friday, Aug. 26.

The gates to Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium open at 3:45 p.m. Practice that day, which is open to the public, begins at that same time on fields near the south grandstand. The practice concludes at 6:15 p.m., when the Big Red Rally begins in the stadium.

Sooners Wrap Up Final Scrimmage

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma completed a 50-play scrimmage Wednesday afternoon in Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. It was the final preseason scrimmage for the Sooners prior to their Sept. 3 season opener against TCU.
